Women were 'good to think with'
Biblical women often lack formal authority but wield real power through ingenuity. That was exactly the position of a people living under empire.
The defeated had much to learn from women's ways.

A small people couldn't afford to exclude half its members from public life. Men had to give up a macho, bootstrap mentality and learn collaboration, compromise, and strategy. The Bible kept patriarchy but carved out exceptions, leaving later scholars and feminists to go further.
