Chronicles whitewashed David
Chronicles retells Israel's history but starts with Adam and nine chapters of male genealogies. It erases David's rise through Saul's family, his affair with Bathsheba, and his family's violence.
Revision can serve unity, at a moral cost.

In Chronicles, David exists mainly to organize the temple. The book skips the patriarchs and exodus altogether. Its vision unites North and South around Jerusalem's temple, but its cleaned-up David is morally troubling.
