In Ezra, neighbors from the north offer to help build the temple, saying they too worship Israel's God. Judah's leaders refuse.

Ezra-Nehemiah echoes Kings' claim that Samaria's people were foreign transplants. Chronicles, by contrast, makes the Jerusalem temple a point of unity for the whole nation, including the North.
