No surge of returnees

Archaeology shows no significant population growth in Judah for a long time after the exile.

A few leaders, not masses, returned.

Dig deeper

We know of Sheshbazzar, Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Ezra, and Nehemiah, and probably others, but not mass migration.
